When I arrived at Katie’s parents home, it was time to put on the dress!! It was a squeeze but we got it!

I hope I am getting this right, but I am 90% sure that Katie’s mom made the necklace she wore that day. Gorgeous!

Katie Elfers rocked the house with the flowers!!!

While I was with the ladies photographing their final preparations, Ted went over to see what Kevin was up to!

On the way to meet Kevin and the guys, the girls and I dropped by Katie’s grandmothers farm for a few shots. The two horses there were HILARIOUS. From the minute we got out of the limo they were at the edge of the gate, leaning over and begging for attention! Look at these two characters!

No matter where we went, there they were! This photo would not have normally made it on the blog ONLY because the wind came and blew Katie’s bangs in front of her eyes. BUT I HAD to make an exception due to the absolute HILARIOUSNESS of what is going on behind them! Look at that horse SMILING at the camera and the other one looking right at me as if he knows what is going on! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Seriously!! That is one for the record books!!

How could you not love these guys??

There were a few showers that day that made us have to hide in the cars here and there until it stopped! I have to say that I was a little thankful for it as it made a cool ring shot.

They were married at Kumler Chapel up in Oxford. It is gorgeous!

Mom was a little overcome by watching her daughter come down the aisle!

I love the moment between the bride and groom just as they exit the sanctuary and celebrate the first few moments of being husband and wife….

On the way to the reception we stopped off at a random farm for some more photos!! I was having so much fun shooting here with them! I mean look at these two. Who wouldn’t be???

When we arrived at the reception Ted went nuts shooting details! He’s so good.

Their first dance was so sweet! Kevin being silly and Katie laughing at him! Perfect!

I am pretty sure “Cuz if you liked it than you should have put a ring on it” was on and I was probably doing my little dance I always do to that song and Katie was joining in on it! I love this! Thank girl!

I just love our couples. I know I say that a lot but it really is true. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that if you desire to hire us, you have to love having fun so that might have something to do with it! All day, Katie was super chill and ready for anything. From my wedding experience, when a bride is relaxed and having fun, so is everyone else. It is kinda like, “If mama ain’t’ happy ain’t nobody happy.” So for all your future brides, just remember, come rain or come shine, come any wedding day glitches or stresses, just remember to that at the end of the day what will be most important are all the memories you make with your hubby. Make em’ good because it goes so fast. Ted and I will be married 10 years in December and on our wedding day I spent way to much time feeling stressed! Right Ted? Don’t answer that.

Before each of our weddings I spend time talking to the bride about their wedding day. Stephanie and I had spent time talking about all of the fun details as well as the schedule for the day and much much more. At the end of the conversation she let out a sigh and said, “We just feel like we are little kids waiting for Christmas!” I love it!

When I came to photograph Stephanie getting ready, she was all smiles from the first click of the shutter.

A gorgeous dress and an old Trolley Car, perfect! There are so many perks to having your wedding at the Cincinnati Museum Center!

The first look…. it was so awesome! Future brides, no worries about any “moment” being ruined if you decide to see each other before the wedding!! Just look at those faces!!

Stephanie’s energy is contagious! I promise you she had this smile on the entire day!!

We had to head back to the old trolley car! All day when a photo would have them really close Stephanie would say, “It is soooooo hard to be this close to you and not kiss ya!” I just love how much they love.

Shooting every weekend and most of the week has been a little bit of an adjustment after a couple of months “down time.” Every year when the business begins from having a break I think all creatives have the feeling of, “Can we out do last year?” I still get a little nervous at that first wedding after the winter break which just cracks me up!

I have a whole lotta blogging to do considering I have been taking a little pause with it to keep up on all the editing but boy, there is so much! I thought today I would give you a sneak peek at what has been going on in the life of Kortnee and Ted!!

Steph and Justin’s gorgeous wedding at French Park! Future brides, the decor will give you so many fun ideas!

Stephanie and Ryan’s beautiful wedding at the Museum Center! These two have the best expressions ever! Wait until you see their first meet!

Krista and Jeremy’s engagement session! I got pooped on by a bird during this session. Sorry, no photos of that!

Leah and Ryan’s wedding was SO much fun! Their reception at the 20th Century Theater was awesome! Her dad got on stage and sang her the cutest song and there is such a funny rock star photo of him up there!!

I went up to Oxford for Maggie and Charlie’s engagement session! We ran through a field of yellow flowers and trespassed on a super fabulous farm. It was awesome!

I had the pleasure of spending time with the lovely ladies around the bar! Dana was rather excited to be surrounded by all her favorite women! I have to say that I adore this group of girls. Everyone is so down to earth and super nice. But I am not sure what else I expected from friends of Dana’s.

We were BLOWN AWAY by the ceremony location!!

It was so adorable to watch Dana’s father practice giving his daughter away. ☺ I think we may see tears tomorrow but tonight was all laughter and excitement!

When Dana’s father finally got her down the aisle, Dan was more than happy to take her off his hands.

Dana was a little excited just to be practicing getting married to her best friend.

Before heading to dinner we grabbed a few shots of the bride and groom to be! The light was GORGEOUS, the couple was GORGEOUS, MWAH! Perfection!

The entire time we were shooting I was saying how much they belong togehter! Dana and Dan are seriously perfect for each other. They are all about fun and love, and really, how much more do you need? This is the exact location where they will be saying their vows to each other tomorrow!! I wonder if Dan will pull this move after the first kiss?!?!? I vote yes.

I am so excited for the wedding tomorrow! The reception is being held inside ancient ruins!! Yeah, I will post it soon, I promise!! ☺ Ok, big day tomorrow, off to bed!!!

We spent the entire day today hanging out at a gorgeous beach!! Meet Dana. She is a vivacious, kind, and thoughtful person. Everyone loves Dana and she is the one to have at a party!

Meet Dan. He is hilarious and makes everyone feel so welcome.

Everyone had a hay-day with the pool! Ted is obviously in love with the accommodations. He and Dana pulled out the classic cannonball! I love this photo! Ted’s got some hops!

Poor Amy hung in there because it was a cooooooold day! Not only did she hang in there, she looked fabulous to boot! Midwest winter brides are a tough group of chics! I was one too! December 9th baby, whoop whoop! It snowed on our wedding day and it was freezing. Amy, thanks for freezing for fabulousness! You and DJ are amazing and I would photograph you every weekend. Wanna?

Amy has three gorgeous little boys and on the wedding day in their sweet tux’s they looked like three adorable little men!! It was sooooo sweet when they came for photos and saw their Mama for the first time. Look at this little face!!

During the engagement shoot Amy told me how incredible DJ has been with her boys. She told me of the incredible bond they have with him and how excited she was that they have such a fabulous man to look up to in their lives. I have to agree. I adore this new family photo of such a precious new family.

I just love Amy’s look. There are not many women who can pull off such a sleek, vintage look! Perfection!!

I guess it hasn’t really only been reflection Wednesday lately. It has been more like reflection every day of the week. Ask Ted, I spend A LOT of time thinking about what I might be missing. This week, I went to visit my parents in Illinois. It was a super quick trip but anytime I go back and visit them I stay in the house I grew up. I sleep in the room in the basement where Ted and I stayed for a few months between jobs when we first were married. I sometimes do my hair in the room I spent many a night sleeping, studying for tests until the wee hours of the morning and hiding under the covers to talk on the phone as late as I wanted as long as I was quiet. I walk around on the five acres I spent many a day digging in the dirt, playing with our many dogs and riding four-wheelers. As I do all of these things I think back who I was then and what my dreams were for the future. I remember looking at 29 year olds and thinking they were SO old and I would be all that I wanted to be by that time. Through all of this reflection, I have come to the realization that I need to live intentionally. Days are flying by really really fast. So fast that if I don’t take time to stop, take a deep breath and look around, I will miss it. I think my desire to soak up life has created an unhealthy fear of missing something, anything. Maybe that is why I am obsessed with taking photos. If I take a photo of it, I can keep it all forever. I don’t know about the other photog’s out there but I tend to spend special occasions behind the camera instead of inside the moment.Today, I will be intentional about checking fear at the door. Instead of being fearful of missing something, I will try to slow down and take more mental pictures inside the moments.

In the meantime, for those of you who are wishing I would just put a sock in it and post some photos already, here ya are!! I will be posting DJ and Amy’s wedding here soon!! Have a great Wednesday everyone! Remember, enjoy today!

In honor of my new found awareness I have chosen my most favorite photos from Katie and Kyle’s wedding to share with you! It was tough as there were SO many fabulously emotional photos to choose from. Katie and Kyle have an INCREDIBLE family support system and friends like you would not believe. The way everyone rallied around them in support on their wedding day really said a lot about their character. Katie has an awesome sense of style and I just loved her dress and her very fabulous shoes!! I think reflect Katie’s personality to a T… classic and sassy!!!

When she finally slipped the dress on, mom was overwhelmed. I adore this moment.

Right after the kiss, they sat back down to finish the rest of the ceremony. They had officially been declared husband and wife and Katie could not hold back her excitement!!

Tip for my fellow photographers: Give em’ a shot right before photos begin. You never know what may happen.

This moment is locked into my brain forever. It was that cool. We took them out on the ice on a SUPER busy Saturday afternoon and the good people who ran the rink kicked everyone off just for us! There were TONS of people surrounding the rink as they stepped onto the ice and all you could hear were tons of voices cheering for them!! I seriously teared up. I know, I’m a sap. Can’t help it.

One last photo before the reception…. perfect light, perfect couple.

The reception was a serious winter wonderland. The flowers were amazing (thanks to the lovely Katie Elfers!! You go girl!!) and I love how they incorporated their grandmothers photos on her bouquet. The contrast of the white flowers and silver detail against the black linens really made everything pop!

Ornaments in the vases, what a great way to add even more sparkle and shine!!

This funky fun cake was made by Fantasy in Frosting!!

When shooting a wedding at Drees Pavilion, it would be a sin not to shoot the view of the city at night.

Katie and Kyle were out on that dance floor all night!! Along with their entire wedding party and all the guests! We had so much fun! I know I was tappin’ my foot while taking this photo!!

Thank you Katie and Kyle for bearing the freezing cold of winter to spend time making memories and great photographs. The more I got to know you both I began to feel even more honored that you chose us to be a part of your life on this day.

Ted and Kortnee~

We are leaving for our honeymoon in the morning, but I just couldn’t leave without thanking you two one more time. Yesterday was nothing short of amazing. The whole day was like something out of a fairytale and it was in a large part due to you guys. You are so fun and easy to work with and you created memories that Kyle and I will have for a lifetime. What you created on the ice skating rink for us was absolutely magical…we even got a bonus with the UC win at the same time

There was a lot of planning that went in to yesterday, but picking you two as our photographers was the best move we made. If you can find a way for me to carry you guys around with me all the time, let me know. I just love you two and cannot thank you enough for what you helped create for Kyle and I.

I cannot wait to see the pictures, which I’m sure is what every bride tells you, but please get some sleep too…we kept you out way too late last night.
